Empowering People, Launching lives
In September 2018 we ran a solutions-focused, networking event, in collaboration with Capgemini. The focus of the day was bringing together like-minded professionals to better understand the challenge of provision of SEN services within schools, helping facilitate discussions around common challenges and seeing what solutions might look like.

At a time where schools are under increasing pressure to perform, and Local Authorities are expected to do more with less, it can often be children with special educational needs that feel the impact. Children with autism are three times more likely to be excluded for a fixed period, or permanently, than pupils with no special educational needs. Those working in the education system want to change those statistics, but it is impossible to do in isolation. The first step to making a change is to work together, to find solutions that we can implement in the current age.
The event was attended by inclusion managers, headteachers, SENCOs and SEN / autism leads from across London and the surrounding counties all looking to play their part in making this change. Having listened to a number of inspiring speakers, delegates splintered into workshops that allowed a greater focus on the barriers we face daily in trying to keep children with autism included in education.
We are extremely grateful to our partners, Capgemini, for hosting and facilitating the day. Through their Accelerated Solutions Environment, they guided us through understanding the impact and identifying the barriers before introducing creative ways in which to interrogate these to find practical solutions that could be actioned by everyone attending.
